Biography
Russell Houghtaling comes to Western Illinois from Washington State University, where he completed his bachelor of arts degree in communication with a minor in sports management. He will act as Western's primary contact for volleyball, men's basketball, and spring golf and tennis.
While at WSU, Houghtaling worked under former CoSIDA president Rod Commons' office for two years. He was the primary contact for the Cougars' women's rowing team, which finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in 2006.
Outside of sports, Houghtaling enjoys creating music. He's played drums for ten years, guitar for four, and been in three bands along the way.
