Biography
Brock Wissmiller began his duties as Director of Marketing and Assistant Development Director on July 1, 2009, after spending two years as a graduate assistant in the Western Illinois Athletics Media Services office. He received his Masters of Science Degree in Sport Management in the spring of 2009 from Western Illinois. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in Broadcasting from Western Illinois in the spring of 2007, graduating cum laude.
Wissmiller runs the marketing efforts for all 20 Division I sports programs, including working with the Purple Haze student group. He also worked closely with the 2010 Purple and Gold Gala and Benefit Auction, helping orchestrate another successful fund-raising event to support Leatherneck Athletics.
In 2008-09, Wissmiller was responsible for Western Illinois' new media and video ventures. His duties included the production of the Leatherneck Sports Network podcasts and feature videos for Rocky Vision. He also coordinated all live streaming events through Rocky Vision and implemented, for the first time ever, video coverage of post-game press conferences for Western Illinois Athletics. Additionally, he also served as the primary contact for the Leatherneck baseball program.
During the 2007-08 seasons, Wissmiller worked as the primary contact for baseball, men’s soccer and men’s golf. He also served as the secondary contact for men’s basketball, providing color commentatry on the road for the Leatherneck Sports Network.
In his time at Western, Wissmiller has called numerous athletics events on the Leatherneck Sports Network. He spent two seasons with the women’s basketball team serving as the color commentator (2005-06) and the play-by-play voice (2006-07) on WIUS-FM, as the flagship station for women’s basketball. For three years he called Leatherneck football home games on WIUS. Wissmiller was a runner up in 2007 for the Illinois News Broadcasters Association (INBA) in the Radio Play-By-Play category.
The Downers Grove, Ill., native serves as the play-by-play voice for all Leatherneck Football broadcasts and worked as public address announcer for men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball games. He and his wife Becki (married in July 2010) reside in Macomb.
