Biography

JUNIOR (2022): Made 39 appearances and 27 starts, recording 17 hits in 97 at-bats… tied for the team-lead with four home runs… 2-2 on stolen base attempts… four multi-hit performances, including a 2-4 game against Illinois State where Cruz recorded two doubles and two runs scored… only committed one error on the season, leading to a team-best .995 fielding percentage (min. 25 chances).

SOPHOMORE (2021): Played in nine games... started at Omaha (April 30), where he totaled three at-bats.

FRESHMAN (2020): Saw action in seven games with one start at Memphis (Feb. 29)... knocked first career hit at Tennessee (Feb. 15).

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters for Ryan Wiggs at Belleville East… was Student Council President. 

PERSONAL: Born May 25, 2001… son of Stephanie and Keith Cruz… choose Western because “it provided a very home feeling and the players were easy to connect with. Also because of the reputation of the Kinesiology department"... says his family and teammates are his biggest influence in sports since they have “continuously pushed me towards my goals and the constant competitiveness of teammates.”... majoring in Kinesiology.
