Biography

2014 (FRESHMAN): Appeared in three matches as a true freshman, starting in all three... Made her Leatherneck debut in season opener against Ball State, finishing with 20 assists and eight digs... Dished out season-highs in assists (36) and digs (12) against Northern Colorado.

Western Illinois head volleyball coach April Hall announced the signing of two student-athletes on Wednesday (Nov. 20). Courtney Joyce (Mother McAuley High School) and Brianna Bonner (Moline High School) come to Western after stand out high school careers in Illinois.

"We've brought in a 2014 class that is going to change the face of WIU Volleyball,” said Hall. “Both Courtney and Bri are extremely dynamic, gritty players who want nothing more than to win. They are coming from great institutions where they saw many successes both individually and as a team. We couldn't be more excited to get them on campus and I truly believe this is a class that the community is going to be proud of."

Courtney Joyce joins the Leatherneck family after a championship-playing career at Mother McAuley High School in Chicago. The setter was named 2013 SouthtownStar Player of the Year and Girls Catholic Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She led Mother McAuley to the 2013 Class 4A State Championship title after posting 26 assists in the two-set championship match for the Mighty Macs. Joyce was an All-Conference and Asics Challenge All-Tournament team selection after her junior and senior years. The 5-foot-9 setter also led the Mighty Macs to a third-place finish in the 2012 IHSA State Championship. She plays club volleyball for Michio Chicago Volleyball Academy.
