Biography

JUNIOR (2017): Injuries cut his season short... two relief appearances, giving up two runs on three hits in 2.2 innings... earned his degree in May 2017.

JUNIOR (2016): Redshirted.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Made three appearances, including one start... threw one-third of an inning at Oklahoma State... started at Wichita State and gave up two earned run on three hits in 2.1 innings... faced two batters against Illinois-Springfield... elected to the 2014-15 Spring Academic All-Summit League, distinguished scholar.

FRESHMAN (2014): Made nine appearances during his freshman campaign with one start... first career appearance came on 2/22 vs. Louisiana-Monroe, threw 1.0 inning... first start came on 3/11 at #10 Louisville, threw a season-high 2.1 innings with one strikeout in the start... needed just two pitches to record three outs on 4/9 vs. Illinois-Springfield... 1.0 inning pitched on 4/30 vs. St. Ambrose... 2.0 innings pitched with one runs allowed on 5/4 vs. Illinois State... final appearance of the season came in The Summit League Championship game vs. North Dakota State, threw 1.0 inning with no runs allowed.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played baseball and basketball… team captain of both teams…  two-time All-Conference in baseball... received the Silver Streaks Basketball Dedication Award… finished his senior year with a 7-2 record on the mound and 0.88 ERA… also struck out 67 batters in 64.0 innings of work… part of Galesburg High School baseball teams that won Western Big 6 Conference Championships and Regional Championships in both 2012 and 2013… played for American Legion Post 285 team in Galesburg that won four consecutive district tournaments and went to state in 2011.

PERSONAL: Son of Steve and Kelly Cheesman… born April 15, 1995… lists his family as being a major influence on his sports career, “they have pushed me when needed and always have been there to support me.”… hobbies include baseball, golfing, watching sports and hanging out with friends and family… lists favorite professional baseball team as the New York Yankees.

MAJOR: Fire Science with a minor in Public Administration
