Kickoff Time Change

Football Kickoff Moved to 7 p.m. Due to Extreme Heat

MACOMB, Ill. — Due to the forecasted heat and an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for McDonough County, Western Illinois University and Illinois State University have agreed to move Saturday's football kickoff at Hanson Field from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The decision was made in consultation with sports medicine staff and with the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, staff, officials and fans in mind. Moving kickoff back one hour will allow temperatures to begin declining and reduce exposure during the hottest portion of the evening.

Fans attending Saturday's game are encouraged to prepare for warm conditions by staying hydrated, wearing lightweight clothing and taking breaks from the heat when needed.

All other game-day activities and ticket information remain unchanged unless otherwise communicated.

Kickoff between the Leathernecks and Redbirds is now scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Hanson Field.
