MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Volleyball team had their final out of conference matches this weekend, with matches against Green Bay on September 18th at 6pm, and September 19th at 2pm. 

The Leathernecks are coming off of a weekend at the Linda Herman Volleyball classic, where they were unable to come out on top of Illinois State or Purdue Fort-Wayne.

Western Illinois has had a tumultuous road schedule so far this season, not having a single game at home thus far. 

These two teams have met 15 times in the series history, with Green Bay holding an 8-7 lead over the Leathernecks. Despite this, Western Illinois has not beaten the Phoenix since 1997, so the team will have a chance to do something this weekend that has not been done in almost 30 years.

Scouting Green Bay

The Green Bay Phoenix have gotten off to a 5-4 start to this volleyball season, and are on a 3 game win streak as well. They picked up two key wins against Virginia Tech and Northwestern this past weekend at the Northwestern Invitational, and look to continue that momentum into this weekend.

The Phoenix are led in kills on the season by Diane Pichelman with 110, followed by Gillian Koning with 90. Alexa Hernandez is the team's assist leader with 362, with Pichelman leading the team with 13 aces on the year. Defensively, Macy Kline is the team leader with 145 digs, and Olivia Neumann leads the block category with 24 total.

Leatherneck Volleyball is hoping to get back on track and build momentum headed into this OVC season, and two games against a quality opponent will be a great opportunity for them to do so.
