Macomb, IL - The Leathernecks open their 2026 season at home Wednesday, Aug. 12, welcoming Indiana State to John MacKenzie Alumni Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Leathernecks enter the new season with a mix of returning players and newcomers looking to make an impact. Western returns several players from last year's squad, including Callie McMurtrey, Ava Bell, Perla Rios, Ali Matthews and Claire Brown.
Western also welcomes several newcomers to the roster, including Rikkie Steenhold, who will begin her first season with the Leathernecks.
Wednesday's match-up will be the first of the season for Western and provides an early test against a familiar Indiana State team. The Leathernecks faced the Sycamores last season in Terre Haute, with Indiana State earning a 3-0 victory.
With a new season underway, Western will look to start strong at home and build momentum as the 2026 campaign gets started.
Following Wednesday's match-up, the Leathernecks will hit the road for their next contest at Southern Illinois on Sunday, Aug. 16.
