Western Illinois Volleyball Adds Victoria Becerra to Coaching Staff

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois volleyball has announced the addition of Victoria Becerra as an assistant coach, bringing collegiate coaching experience and a strong background in player development to the Leatherneck program.

Known to her student-athletes as "Coach Vic," Becerra joins Western Illinois after spending the last two seasons as an assistant volleyball coach at Concordia University Texas. During her time there, she was involved in nearly every aspect of the program, including recruiting, practice planning, scouting, film breakdown, and player development.

"We're excited to welcome Victoria to our program," said head coach Mari Silva. "She brings valuable recruiting experience, a strong knowledge of the game, and the energy to help our student-athletes continue to grow. We're confident she'll make an immediate impact both on and off the court and in building the future of our program."

She worked closely with defensive specialists, liberos, and setters while helping with match preparation, technical training, and both offensive and defensive systems. Becerra also helped launch Concordia's first NCAA beach volleyball program, assisting with recruiting and helping build the foundation for the new program.

Before coaching at the collegiate level, Becerra built an impressive résumé in club volleyball with Austin Juniors Volleyball and LA Pursue Volleyball Club.

At LA Pursue, she led her 14 National team to multiple tournament championships and a top-27 finish out of 189 teams in the USA Division at AAU Nationals. While coaching the AJV Boys 16 Adidas team, Becerra helped guide the team to Gold Bracket appearances in every tournament, a runner-up finish at the Southwest Boys Spring Swing, and qualification for the USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championship in just the team's second tournament of the season. She also helped seven athletes earn recognition on the 2024 JVA Boys Watch List.

As a player, Becerra competed as a libero at Nicholls State University, where she earned a starting role as a true freshman. Before college, she earned All-District honors and served as team captain at Cedar Ridge High School.

Throughout her playing career, Becerra trained under three-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist Stacey Sykora and three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor.

Becerra earned her bachelor's degree from Nicholls State University before completing her Master of Business Administration at Concordia University Texas.
