MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois women's tennis had a standout week as Mana Fawcett was named Singles Player of the Week, while the duo of Fawcett and Jessica Hess earned Doubles Team of the Week honors following a strong performance in weekend action.
Singles Player of the Week: Mana Fawcett
Fawcett posted a 3-0 record in singles, picking up wins in both the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. She opened the weekend with a win over Illinois State, then delivered a key victory against Chicago State to clinch the match for the Leathernecks. Fawcett capped her week with another straight-set win against Valparaiso.
In doubles play, Fawcett and Hess went a perfect 2-0, competing primarily in the top spot. The pair earned wins against Chicago State and Valparaiso, helping set the tone early in matches and providing a consistent advantage for Western Illinois in doubles play.
Western Illinois continues its spring season with momentum after a week highlighted by individual excellence and team success. The Leathernecks will hit the road to face Bradley and St. Thomas Feb. 6-7.
