MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will be racing in the OVC Tournament this weekend, which will be taking place in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Both teams will be competing for a chance to win the OVC title after a great race at the Bradley Pink Classic, where most notably three girls, Karson Oberender, Lydia Bennett, and Emma-Kate Watt ran times that would be in the top 6 all time at Western Illinois.
There will be 10 Women and 10 Men competing in the race, with the Women's race being at 9:00 AM, and the Men's at 10:00 AM.
The Leatherneck Men are led in the 8K this season by Parker Quinlan, whose 25:10.4 just beat out Logan Beckmeir's 25:13.2 for the top mark on the team. Carter Olsen, Blayze Havel, and Eason Comer round out the top five for the team.
On the Women's side, Karson Oberender has the best time for Western Illinois, with a 21:23.2, which is the best time so far for a Freshman in the OVC. The next two best runners for the Leathernecks time wise are Lydia Bennett and Emma-Kate Watt, with a 21:48.7 and 21:52.0 respectively. Rounding out the top five for the Western Illinois women are Maclaine German and Ellie Eastman.
The Leatherneck teams are very optimistic about their chances of winning the OVC, and are going to be competing hard for the chance to win it all.
