Mia Nicastro Named a Player to “Keep an Eye On” in Upcoming AP Player of the Week

MACOMB, Ill. — Mia Nicastro was recognized as one to "Keep an Eye On" in the upcoming Associated Press Player of the Week story.

Nicastro's mention comes as national media continues to take notice of her strong performances and growing impact for the Leathernecks. Her consistent production, competitive presence, and leadership have made her a key contributor for Western Illinois and a rising name within the collegiate landscape. She is currently averaging 24.1 points per game, 10.4 rebounds and shooting 51.4 field goal percentage.

Being highlighted by the Associated Press places Nicastro among a select group of athletes earning national attention, reinforcing both her individual success and the momentum of the program.

"Mia has had a tremendous season. She has consistently played at a high level in games and practices since Day 1 in the summer," shared head coach JD Gravina,  "Our team and staff have so much confidence in her, and he's built that confidence in herself. I'm enjoying coaching her, and our entire team, through this special season."
