MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois battled Eastern Illinois to a 1–1 draw on Saturday afternoon at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
The Leathernecks got on the board first in the 11th minute when Liam Gainey found the back of the net off an assist from Henrry Abarca-Gonzalez. The Panthers responded later in the first half as Casey Welage scored in the 26th minute to level the match.
From there, both teams had chances, but the goalkeepers and defenses held strong. WIU was outshot 17–6, but keeper Micah Ramirez came up with six saves to preserve the result.
With the tie, Western Illinois moved to 2-7-1 overall and 0-0-1 in league play, while Eastern Illinois now sits at 1-4-2.
