11 Games In
Through its first 11 matches, the Leathernecks sit at (1-10-0), having opened with a strong 2–0 win over St. Ambrose, followed by ten tough losses, with the most recent being a close match against Morehead State on the road.
New Goalkeeper
Western Illinois continues to see growth from freshman goalkeeper Lillian Johns, who has stepped into the starting role early in her Leatherneck career. Saturday marks just her third collegiate start, but Johns has already shown composure beyond her years between the posts. Her presence provides stability for a young WIU back line, and her ability to organize the defense will be a key factor as the Leathernecks head deeper into Big South–OVC play.
Freshman Shining
Abigail Schilling has stepped up as one of Western's top scoring threats this season, netting two goals to lead the Leatherneck attack. She is now tied for leading the team in goals this year with Kayla Turner.Â
Scouting Eastern Illinois (4-4-2)
Eastern Illinois comes into this matchup with a 4–4–2 overall record, and 1–0 in OVC play so far this season. The Panthers like to control the pace through midfield possession and aren't afraid to probe patiently for openings. Their defense has maintained a compact shape, making it tough for opponents to break in centrally. But in transition they've shown flashes of creativity  so the Leathernecks will need to be careful with turnovers near their backline. In short, keeping the tempo high and disrupting EIU's buildup in the middle will be crucial.
Scouting Tennesee Tech (0-6-5)
Tennessee Tech hasn't found much traction so far, sitting at 0–6–5 on the season. Despite the winless record, Tech still presents danger, particularly through set pieces and high-pressure moments.
