Where: Macomb, IL
When: 8/15 5:00 p.m.

New Coach
The Western Illinois University women's soccer program will have a new face as head coach this year with the hire of Ross Henderson. Before coming to WIU, Henderson spent the past four seasons as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Clayton State University (CSU) from 2021-2024. During the 2024 season, Henderson led the Lakers to the most wins in the program since 2019 and tied its program record for the fewest losses in a season with a record of 8-3-6. Henderson looks to bring his competitive coaching edge to WIU this year.

Preseason Outlook
Sophomore goalie Ariel Bernard ranked as the player to watch this year for Western Illinois. She had over 100 saves last year and looks to continue that success this year. The Leathernecks are projected to finish 10th in the OVC, with Tennessee Tech projected to take home the league title.

Western Illinois Vs Jefferson College
In their exhibition match, Western Illinois defeated Jefferson College 7-0 to start the season. Callie McMurtrey had a strong start to her senior season with numerous goals in the match.

Staring in the Stars and Stripes
Western Illinois Women's Soccer Goalkeeper Ariel Bernard was named to the roster for the first U.S. Soccer Women's College Talent ID Camp this past summer.

Scouting St. Ambrose
St. Ambrose went 15-6-2 last year with a 9-2 conference record in the CCAC, leading to a conference championship. Saint Ambrose scored 68 goals on the season, averaging 2.96 GPG.
