MACOMB, Ill-  Western Illinois Baseball dropped their second matchup with the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon by a score of 10-5 at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium. The Leathernecks had a 4-2 lead after the fourth inning, but couldn't hold on to the lead as Tech would tie it up in the fifth inning and take the lead in the seventh to take game two of the three game series.

Starter Frederick Romano had a season-high 7 strikeouts in four innings pitched, allowing six hits and giving up four runs. Eric Rawlings would get the majority of the work out of the bullpen, pitching 4.2 innings on 57 pitches. Rawlings gave up six hits and four earned runs (six total).

After Tennessee Tech took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second, WIU would score two runs to take the lead after two innings. A two-out single by Kyree Alexander started the rally, who advanced to second on a wild pitch with Justin Bogard at the plate. Bogard would get hit by a pitch on his hand to put runners on first and second, and Liam Bushey would drive in both Alexander and Bogard with a two-out double down the left field line giving WIU the 2-1 lead.

The Leathernecks would add on to their lead in both the third and fourth innings. Tyler Large started off the bottom of the third with a lead off double and would come around to score on a one-out double by Paul Osting down the right field line. In the bottom of the fourth, Bushey would come through again for WIU, singling to right field to score Bogard. Bushey finished the day 3-5 with 3 RBI to lead the offense and Bogard would score two of the Leathernecks' five runs in the contest.

The Golden Eagles would tie the game in the fifth inning scoring two runs to make it 4-4. The game would remain tied until the seventh inning when Tech scored two runs to take a 6-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Kenneth Perez would reach on an error by the Tech shortstop with one out in the bottom of inning number seven to start another rally for WIU's offense. Perez advanced to second on a wild pitch and came around to score on an RBi single from Kyree Alexander to cut the Tech lead to 6-5. Tennessee Tech would score four runs in the top of the ninth to take control of the game. The Leathernecks committed three errors on the afternoon which proved to be costly in the loss.
