MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois University Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb has announced a change in Leatherneck Volleyball leadership, effective immediately. 
 
"After careful consideration and evaluation of our volleyball program," said Bubb, "I have determined that a change in leadership is a necessary step at this time.  I want to thank Coach Starr for his service to Western Illinois University and wish him well in his future endeavors." 
 
Starr became the head volleyball coach at Western Illinois University on February 16, 2022 and led the Leathernecks for four seasons with a record of 37 wins and 84 losses. The 2025 team finished the season with an overall record of 7 wins and 24 losses, including 4 wins and 14 losses in Ohio Valley Conference play. Western's best season under Starr was in 2024 when the Leathernecks posted a 17-13 mark overall and went 11-7 in OVC play.
