Macomb, IL. – The Western Illinois men's soccer team will wrap up its 2025 regular season this Sunday, November 2, when the Leathernecks host the Lindenwood Lions at John MacKenzie Alumni Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. as WIU looks to keep its postseason hopes alive in a crucial Ohio Valley Conference matchup.

The Leathernecks (4-12-2, 2-6-0 OVC) enter the regular season finale riding the momentum of a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory over SIUE on Thursday night. Forwards Xavier Gagnon and Diego Porras each scored second-half goals to help WIU complete the season sweep of the Cougars — with both of the team's conference wins this season coming against SIUE.

Senior forward Liam Gainey continues to pace the Leatherneck attack, tallying six goals and two assists in his final campaign in purple and gold. Between the posts, goalkeeper Micah Ramirez has been a steady presence all season long, starting all 18 matches while leading the OVC with 81 saves and ranking fifth in the league with a 1.72 goals-against average (GAA).

Sunday's match marks the second meeting between Western Illinois and Lindenwood this season. The Lions took the first contest on October 5 in St. Charles, earning a 2-0 victory behind goals from Sebastià Cerda Tous and Gavin Csiszar. Lindenwood (13-1-3 overall, 6-1-2 OVC) enters the weekend atop the conference standings and leads the all-time series against WIU, 3-1-1.

With the OVC Tournament picture still taking shape, the Leathernecks will look to cap their regular season on a high note and make a final push toward postseason play in front of their home crowd.
