Macomb, IL.- Western Illinois University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its first annual SAAC O'Lantern Night on Wednesday, October 29, in Western Hall, inviting children and families from the Macomb community to enjoy an evening of Halloween fun.
The event featured trick-or-treating with WIU student-athletes, a variety of interactive games and activities, and a special appearance by Ray, our live Mascot. Western Hall was filled with costumes, candy, and community spirit as student-athletes from multiple sports volunteered to create a memorable evening for children and their families from the Community.
"SAAC O'Lantern was such a fun night! It not only brought all the athletes together but also connected the whole community. Seeing each team interact with the kids and parents made Western Hall feel full of energy and joy. The costumes were a hit, and there were smiles everywhere you looked," said Addi Brownfield, Vice President of SAAC. "It's a great opportunity for our student-athletes to give back to the community that supports them year-round and to bring joy to local families," said Ries Wynn-Foster, Director of Student-Athlete Success & Support & SAAC Advisor.
Western Illinois Athletics and SAAC extend their gratitude to all student-athletes, coaches, community members, and the McDonough County Sheriff's Office, who all helped make the event a success. The committee looks forward to building on this year's momentum and making next year's SAAC O'Lantern Night even bigger and better.
