Macomb,IL.-Western Illinois men's soccer team will travel to in-state rival Eastern Illinois on Saturday, October 25 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside Field. This marks the second meeting between the two programs this season, with the previous match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Western Illinois currently holds a narrow edge in the all-time series, leading 4-3-3. The Leathernecks enter the contest with an overall record of 3-9-4 and a 1-2-4 mark in conference play, while the Panthers stand at 3-7-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
Eastern Illinois will celebrate Senior Day as they look to close out the regular season with a win following a 2-0 victory over the University of Southern Indiana last Sunday. Western Illinois is seeking to secure a win after finishing their last two matches in draws. Offensively, the Leathernecks have been powered by senior forward Liam Gainey, who leads the team with six goals on the year entering Saturday's matchup.
Currently, Eastern Illinois sits in fifth place in the OVC standings, with Western Illinois close behind in sixth—adding extra weight to Saturday's matchup as both teams vie for postseason positioning. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
