Western Illinois Men’s Soccer Set to Face Liberty University in Sunday Showdown

Macomb, IL. — The Western Illinois men's soccer team (3-9-3, 1-2-3) will return to action on Sunday, October 19, hosting Liberty University (7-3-4, 3-1-2) at 11 a.m. in a key conference matchup.

The series between the two programs is currently tied 1-1 all-time, with Western Illinois claiming the most recent meeting in a 1-0 victory. The Leathernecks will look to build on that success as they face a strong Liberty squad that sits near the top of the conference standings.

Both teams enter Sunday's contest following draws in their previous outings. Liberty played to a 2-2 tie against Eastern Illinois, while Western Illinois battled Southern Indiana to a 1-1 draw. The result marked Western's third draw in conference play as the team continues to compete in tight, hard-fought matches down the stretch of the regular season.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at John Mackenzie Alumni Field as the Leathernecks aim to close the gap in the standings and gain momentum heading into the final weeks of the season.
