Macomb, IL - WIU Men's Soccer faces off against the SIUE Cougars in its second OVC match of the season Thursday October 2nd. Kick off against the Cougars is scheduled for 3:30 CT. 

Thursday's match can be viewed on ESPN+. 

WIU ( 2-7-1) matches up with SIUE ( 1-7) for the 7th time, with the Leathernecks trailing the all-time series 2-4 that dates back to 2009. Western Illinois fell 3-0 in its last trip to Edwardsville. 

The Leathernecks look to get their first win in conference play after ending the match in a tie this past weekend against OVC's rival, Eastern Illinois.WIU ranks 6th in the conference going into this week's match up. 

After losing their conference opener 2-0 against the undefeated Lindenwood Lions, the Cougars hope to improve to 1-1 in conference play against the Leathernecks. Playing tough through the first 75 minutes of the match, the Cougars gave up two late goals at the 76-minute mark and the 88-minute mark of the game. Entering Thursday's Match with a 1-7 record and ranking 7th in the OVC conference,  the Cougars can gain ground in conference play with a win against the Leathernecks.
