Leatherneck Tennis Falls at Kansas City

WIU hosts SEMO on Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Western Illinois women's tennis team fell on Saturday, dropping a 7-0 match to the Roos in Kansas City.

The No. 1 WIU doubles team of Paige Grice and Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza earned the squad a 6-4 win, but KC was able to claim the other two doubles matches to get the doubles point.

In singles play, Kansas City kept it rolling, taking all six matches, dropping the Leathernecks to 2-9 in the winter/spring season. At No. 4 singles, Agatha Carbonell had Western Illinois' best shot at a win, forcing a third set tiebreaker. Unfortunately for WIU, Carbonell fell just short, falling 6-0, 1-6, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Grice also played a tough match, falling 7-5, 6-4.
 
The Leathernecks return to action on Tuesday, hosting SEMO in the Ohio Valley Conference opener. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and be played at the Brophy Tennis Courts.
