Trush Picks up Win for WIU in Match vs. SEMO

Leathernecks fall to Redhawks 6-1

MACOMB – Anna-Evelina Trush did not mind putting in a little extra work on Tuesday. And the Western Illinois freshman was rewarded for her efforts, grinding out a third-set tiebreak win, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). Trush's victory was the lone one of the contest for the Leathernecks, who fell in the OVC opener to SEMO, 6-1.

The Leathernecks drop to 2-10 overall, 0-1 in the OVC. Western Illinois is next in action on Friday, visiting Tennessee State.

In doubles action, SEMO took the point, winning all three matches. Trush and Aina Cortina-Pou pushed their foes at No. 3 doubles, falling 6-4. In singles play, Trush earned the lone Leatherneck win of the day with her match. Paige Grice put pressure on her opponent, before falling 6-4, 6-1.
