Leatherneck Tennis Falls to SLU

MACOMB -- The Western Illinois women's tennis team fell in their on-campus home opener on Wednesday, dropping a 7-0 match to St. Louis. The loss sends the Leatherneck record to 2-8 overall. Western Illinois is next in action on Saturday, visiting Kansas City.

In doubles play, St. Louis was able to take all three matches to claim the doubles point. The pair of Agatha Carbonell and Maria Rybka nearly picked up a win, falling 7-6. Anna-Evelina Trush and Aina Cortina-Pou also came close to scoring a victory, dropping their match 7-5.

In singles play, the Billikens managed to sweep past the Leathernecks. At No. 2, Paige Grice nearly grabbed a win, forcing a third set, before falling 7-6, 4-6, 10-5.
