WIU coming off win plays two this week

MACOMB -- The Western Illinois women's tennis team is back in action on Wednesday, hosting St. Louis University at 11 a.m. The match is the on-campus debut for the Leathernecks this spring/winter season, as the squad is scheduled to play in outdoors in Macomb instead of at the Galesburg indoor facility. The Leathernecks follow that with a road trip to Kansas City on Saturday to take on the Roos.

The Leathernecks are coming off an impressive win last Saturday, topping Coe College 8-1 in Cedar Rapids.

Western Illinois (2-7) swept the doubles portion of the event against Coe. The teams of Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza and Paige Grice, Agatha Carbonell and Maria Rybka, and Aina Cortina-Pou and Anna-Evalina Trush each won their matches.

In singles play, Rossetto Diniz de Souza, Grice, Carbonell, Rybka, and Trush all won in straight sets.

SLU is 6-0 overall and is coming off a 7-0 Feb. 28 win over Lindenwood. Kansas City enters the week 2-7. Western Illinois fell 7-0 to St. Louis last March. WIU is 0-3 all-time vs. Kansas City, most recently falling 7-0 to the Roos last year.
