Leatherneck Tennis Hosts Southern Indiana

WIU looks for win vs. Screaming Eagles on Friday

MACOMB -- The Western Illinois women's tennis team is in action at home on Friday, hosting Southern Indiana at the Brophy tennis courts. Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. between the Leathernecks and Screaming Eagles.

LAST TIME OUT: The Leathernecks (2-12 overall, 0-3 in OVC) dropped a 6-1 match at Eastern Illinois last Friday. Anna-Evelina Trush was the lone Western Illinois player to earn a win, getting a 6-0, 6-0 win. Southern Indiana (6-8, 2-0) is coming off a 4-3 win over Lindenwood last Sunday and a 7-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Monday.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Western Illinois: Trush leads the Leathernecks in singles victories this season with five wins. Paige Grice is right behind her with four. In doubles, the No. 1 team of Grice and Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza have compiled a four-win spring while Trush and Aina Cortina-Pou have a doubles victory in league play. Southern Indiana: Sophia Davidoff and Antonia Ferrarini each have seven wins in singles play for USI. The tandem of Ferrarini and Madison Windham are 4-1 while no other pairing for the Screaming Eagles has more than one win.

WHAT'S NEXT: Western Illinois is off the next two weeks, hosting Lindenwood in the home regular season finale on April 12. The match is Senior Day for the Leathernecks with play commencing at 11 a.m. WIU is at SIUE the following day, Saturday, April 13 for the regular-season finale. OVC Tournament play is in St. Louis April 19-21.
