MACOMB, Ill - The Western Illinois Women's Basketball team added one recruit to their 2025 class today on National Signing Day, signing 6'1 Wing/Small Forward Sidney Skrobot. Skrobot comes from Sudbury, Ontario, where she averaged 8.8 points per game as a junior at LoEllen Park Secondary School. Sidney played in the 2024 Nike Next Ones Up Girls All-Canadian Games and also played club basketball for two seasons with the Kia Nurse Elite EYBL team.
At LoEllen Park, Sidney is a multi-sport athlete as well as an academic standout. She made the Honor Roll all three years of high school so far and won the Honorable Mention Award in 2024 at the Emergence Gallery of Sudbury Art Show. Skrobot plays Volleyball, Track and Field, and Cross Country as well.
In 2022, Skrobot was the LoEllen Park novice girls volleyball MVP and was a gold medalist in the SDSSAA 80m hurdles and high jump in the same year.
Sidney said she chose WIU because "...a few of my non-negotiables when looking for a school was a program that values not only basketball but academics and team culture. As a Canadian player moving away from home, a team that has a family feel was important. It was also very apparent to me on my visit, that WIU women's basketball coaching staff works hard to build a well-rounded basketball program, which in the end made WIU the perfect fit!" Sidney is set to graduate in June of 2025.
