Raegan McCowan Earns OVC Player and Freshman of the Week Honors

BRENTWOOD, TN – Western Illinois guard Raegan McCowan has been named Player and Freshman of the Week honors the Ohio Valley Conference announced on Tuesday morning. The honor is McCowan's second Player of the Week and eighth Freshman of the Week.

The Lebanon, MO native posted her third double-double of the season, finishing with 28 points and a new career-high 17 rebounds. McCowan finished 9-21 (42%) from the field and a near-perfect 10-11 (92%) from the free throw line. McCowan also set a new career high in minutes played at 41.

These two awards are Western Illinois 10th and 11th Ohio Valley Weekly Awards. McCowan previously earned Freshman of the Week on Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Dec. 27, Jan. 9, and Jan. 16 while earning Player of the Week on Nov. 14. Junior Jasmine Nichols was named Newcomer of the Week on Nov. 21.

Western Illinois (12-5, 3-3) returns to the hardwood on Thursday, taking on the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana.
