Previous Matchup: Western is 4-0 in its last 4 matchups against the Cougars, dating back to 2016. The 4 wins came in a 4 year time span from 2016-2019, and this marks the two teams' first matchup in 4 years.

So far this season: The Leathernecks lost 3-0 against Northern Illinois on Thursday. Senior midfielder Sydnee Sagal, freshman midfielder Alanna Pennington, senior midfielder Elise Bush, and senior midfielder Audrey Narine each tallied a shot a piece for WIU. One positive from Thursday's match was the amount of chances from set pieces the team was able to accrue. The Leathernecks took 5 corners and had a few chances from free kicks against the Huskies.

Players to Watch: Four Leathernecks scored against Northeast CC in an exhibition match last Monday, Kelsi McThenia, Sydnee Sagal, Elise Bush, and Sachiko Gamo. Watch out for these players to put pressure around the goal on Sunday.

Scouting the Opponent: Chicago State moved to 1-0 on Thursday, as they defeated Purdue Fort Wayne in Chicago to get their first win of the season. In the win, freshman midfielder Jacqueline Tamayo scored the only goal of the game. The Cougars finished 3-14-1 in the 2022 season.

What's Next: Women's soccer has their next match at home on Aug. 24 against Northern Iowa. Kickoff at John MacKenzie Alumni Field will be at 4 p.m.
