Western Comes Away with 2-1 Win in Exhibition vs. Southeastern

Kyle Owen scores 2 goals in Leathernecks' victory

MACOMB -- Southeastern got in on the goal-scoring action first, as they put in a header in the 7th minute to take the lead. 

In the 27th minute Kyle Owen scored the equalizer, getting the rebound on his own penalty kick and putting it in the back of the net.

The Leathernecks were not satisfied after the equalizer, as they put the pressure on Southeastern in their own third. Owen got his brace by scoring a header off of a corner as Western took a 2-1 lead into the break.

In the second half, both teams played with a lot of intensity but neither team broke through to score. Owen nearly completed his hat trick in the final minute but Southeastern's keeper made a fantastic save.

Western Illinois will wrap up the last of their three exhibition games on Friday, Aug. 19 at 5:00 p.m vs. Quincy University.
