Five Leathernecks Named Phil Steele Preseason All-MVFC

Ross, DelaCruz, Sanders, Choquette and Detiveaux lead the way

High expectations were placed on a handful of Western Illinois University football players on Friday as Phil Steele announced his Missouri Valley Football Conference Preseason teams.
Five Leathernecks were named as part of the group.

Defensive back JJ Ross was the top Western Illinois player honored, earning a second-team nod.

On the third team is linebacker and returning leading tackler, Juan DelaCruz

Running back Ludovick Choquette, defensive lineman Jake Detiveaux and all-purpose player Taj Sanders were also recognized.

The MVFC will announce its preseason conference poll and all-conference nominees before its media day on Tuesday. Western Illinois begins fall camp next week and plays its first game at New Mexico State on September 2.
