| By:
MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Beginning Monday, July 24, Tayler Onion will join Western Illinois University Athletics as the assistant athletic director for development.

Prior to coming to WIU, Onion had been the head of curriculum development for Game Plan in Tampa, FL, since January 2022. She has also served as an assistant director for Student-Athlete Enhancement for the University of South Florida from 2017-21; and the athletic academic advisor/DAWG coordinator for Southern Illinois University from 2016-17.

"I am excited to welcome Tayler to our Alumni and Development team," said WIU Foundation Executive Officer Brad Bainter. "As she grew up with Western, I know she is well aware of the legacy and traditions for both Western and the Leathernecks, and I know she will do a great job working to raise funds for our athletic program as a part of our $100 million campaign."

Onion received her bachelor's degree in advertising from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; her master's degree in Recreation, Sport and Tourism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Higher Education Administration from the University of South Florida.

"I am excited to have Tayler join our staff and look forward to working with her," Western Illinois Director of Athletics, Paul A. Bubb said. "As a former Division I student-athlete, she has a special appreciation for how private resources can make a big difference in the student-athlete experience."
