Leathernecks drop match to Huskies, 7-0

Kancherla, Rossetto Diniz de Souza fall in tiebreakers

Box Score DeKALB – The Leathernecks fell on the road Saturday, losing 7-0 to Northern Illinois in DeKalb.

Lucky Kancherla nearly scored WIU's lone win, falling 4-6, 7-6, 11-9. After taking the first, Kancherla trailed 5-3 in the second set and rallied back to lead 6-5 before dropping the last two sets to force the tiebreaker.

In the tiebreak, Kancherla trailed 2-0 before winning the next six points. Her opponent would storm back, taking the tiebreaker 11-9

Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza also took a tough tiebreaker loss. The freshman won her first set, 6-3, but her opponent rallied to win the second, 7-5, then take the tiebreaker 11-9.

The Leathernecks are now off until March 4 when they host Bradley at noon.
