WIU Men's Golf Wraps Up Big O Classic

MACOMB, IL - The WIU Men's golf team participated in The Big O Classic on Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4. They finished in 14th place.

Baptiste Labeyrie led WIU, placing T26 shooting 224 (+8). Labeyrie was off to a strong start in round one, having three birdies, helping him shoot 35 (-1) in the front nine. Labeyrie had one birdie, one bogey, one double bogey, and par in the back nine. He finished round one, shooting 73 (+1). In round two, Labeyrie had two birdies, two double bogeys, and three bogeys, shooting a 77 (+5). Labeyrie led off round three strong, shooting a birdie. He would have four birdies in the round and finish round three, shooting a 74 (+2).

Luke Lofgren was WIU's second-best scorer, placing T49 shooting 232 (+16). Lofgren had three birdies in the front nine of round one. He would finish with four total birdies in the first round, shooting 73 (+1). In round two, Lofgren had one birdie, six bogeys, and one double bogey, shooting 79 (+7). In round three, Lofgren had two birdies, and in hole 11, Lofgren was able to secure an eagle. Lofgren shot 74 (+2) in round three.

The Leathernecks are off next week and will be at the University of North Alabama for their final fall tournament on Monday, October 16, and Tuesday, October 17.
