Previous matchup: Last year's matchup between Kansas City and Western ended in a 0-0 draw in Macomb, despite Western playing with 10 men for the final 30 minutes. Western has the upper hand all-time versus the Roos, as they boast a 21-16-3 record all time. Western held a eight-match win streak vs. Kansas City from 2009 to 2017.
Western holds a 12-9-1 all-time record vs. Oral Roberts. Western hosted the Golden Eagles on September 23rd this year, but Oral Roberts dominated the match, winning 8-0.

Scouting the opponents: Kansas City holds a 0-2-2 record in Summit League play, with draws coming vs. Omaha and St. Thomas. The Roos are 2-2-2 overall at home this year, as they picked up wins versus defeated Creighton and Drake in early September. Kansas City currently ranks third in the conference in goals allowed, as they've only allowed five goals in four matches. The Roos' points leader in 2023 is junior Julien Le Bourdoulous, who's tallied a pair of goals as well as four assists on the year.
Oral Roberts has been neck-and-neck with Denver at the top of the Summit League for the past two weeks, as they stand with a 3-0-1 record, with their lone draw coming against Denver. ORU is 3-0 at home this year, beating Omaha, Kansas City, and Tulsa. The Golden Eagles have netted 16 goals in conference play, leading the Summit League by a wide margin. Oral Roberts is led by junior forward Luis Flores, who's eleven goals has him ranked tied for third all of NCAA Division 1.

So far this season: Western currently holds the fourth and final Summit League playoff spot, as they nabbed three points in a match versus St. Thomas two weeks ago. The Leathernecks have been able to keep themselves in close games all year, as ten of their thirteen games have been decided by one goal.

Players to watch: Grad student Kyle Owen picked up his first goal last Tuesday in a home match vs. IUPUI. Owen is currently the team's leader in minutes played, shots, and shots on goal. Owen, freshman Xavier Gagnon, freshman Joel McIntyre, and sophomore Gabe Chapa have started in every match this year for the Leathernecks.

What's next: The Leathernecks will wrap up the Summit League season with a pair of matches on October 28, a home match against Omaha, and on November 4th, an away match versus St. Thomas.
