Leathernecks sweep St. Ambrose

Western tops Bees 7-0

Box Score The Western Illinois women's tennis team had a strong start to fall competition, sweeping St. Ambrose on Sunday by a 7-0 score.
 
In singles, Aina Cortina-Pou, Paige Grice, Lara Diniz de Souza, Agatha Carbonell, Lorena Castellanos and Lucky Kancherla all picked up wins.
 
All six singles players won in straight sets with Kancherla and Grice each winning 6-0, 6-0.
 
In doubles play, the teams of Castellanos and Maria Rybka, Cortina-Pou/Kancherla and Grice/Carbonell all claimed wins. The duos of Grice/Carbonell and Cortina-Pou/Kancherla swept their set in 6-0 fashion.
 
The Leathernecks conclude the fall season on Friday, October 7, playing at the Southeast Missouri Fall Invite.
