Leatherneck men add to roster

The Western Illinois men's basketball program announced the addition of four new players to the roster for the 2022-23 season.
Jesiah West, Steph Gabriel, Cody Collinsworth and Demeiko Anderson each join the Leatherneck squad.
West, Gabriel and Collinsworth are a trio of junior college transfers while Anderson is a true freshman.
 
Jesiah West | 6-5 | Junior | Elizabeth, New Jersey
West joins the Leathernecks after a two-year stint at Southeastern Community College.
This past season, West averaged 13.5 points points and 9.3 rebounds per game, starting 29 games. West shot 57.8 percent from the field for the Blackhawks last season.
During his freshman year, West started 21 of 23 games, scoring 11 points and grabbing 7.7 rebounds per contest.
West was named to the NJCAA All-Star Game this past season.
 
Steph Gabriel | 6-7 | Junior | Irvington, New Jersey
Gabriel, a guard/forward combo player, started 19 games for the Cougars, while playing in 22 contests. He averaged 16 points per game for Highland while shooting 44.7 percent. Gabriel added seven rebounds and three assists per game.
Gabriel was awarded 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All Region for his stellar play during the 2021-2022 season. Gabriel also has been nominated to be an NJCAA D1 All American.
He had a season high of 33 points against Harry S Truman, and recorded five double-doubles this season.
 
Cody Collinsworth | 7-1 | Junior | Lindale, Texas
Collinsworth, a 7-1 center, averaged 13.6 points on 42.9 percent shooting per game last season for Clarendon College.
Collinsworth also added 3.4 rebounds and two blocks a game, averaging 13.6 minutes. Collinsworth started 12 games a year ago for Clarendon.
Collinsworth previously played at Tyler College. 
 
De' Meiko Anderson | 6-0 | Freshman | Minneapolis, Minn.
Anderson, a freshman-to-be guard, averaged 16.2 points per game his senior season at Minnesota North High School.
Anderson played in 32 of his team's 34 games as Minneapolis N
orth High went 27-7.
Anderson was named Minneapolis Conference Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
