Leathernecks Wrap Their Season-Opening Weekend

Sunday’s score wasn’t what they hoped for, but it was an improvement.

Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. | The Western Illinois tennis team responded to its season-opening setback with more points and closer set scores in its Sunday meeting at SIUE (Feb. 6), though the final score resulted in a 7-0 decision. 
 
The Leathernecks' No. 2 double partnered Paige Grice with Ashley Jacobson, and the two battled SIUE to a 6-4 finish. Lucky Kancherla notched four points in each of her sets against the Cougars' No. 4, and singles play also saw Grice leave her best effort on the court for 6-3, 6-2 results. 
 
Western is off to Galesburg its next two matches, where it will play host to Chicago State (Feb. 11) and St. Francis (Feb. 17)
