PEORIA, Ill. - The Western Illinois women's tennis team collected its first match win of the 2022 season and was a few points shy of earning another in a 6-1 decision to Bradley Saturday afternoon (Feb. 19).
Western captured the honors in singles play where No. 5 Paige Grice was named the victor of a retired match (3-6, 2-1), while No. 4 Ashley Jacobson worked her opponent to a nail biting three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-7). The Leathernecks are showing marked improvements in each outing, as evidenced by several set scores. Lucky Kancherla and Aina Cortina-Pou were unable to complete their doubles match; however, they respectively recorded 4-6 and 3-6 finishes in solo action.
Next Saturday, the team heads to Davenport, Iowa, for a 2 p.m. match at St. Ambrose.
