Previous matchup: Tuesday's matchup against Louisville will be the first in program history, though it's not the first time WIU has faced an ACC opponent. The 'Necks have played against three ACC opponents in Clemson, Duke and Notre Dame, with the last matchup coming against the Fighting Irish in 2005.

Players to watch: Though he normally plays out wide, Arian Mehrang moved centrally in the team's last game and put in one of his best performances of the season. He opened his scoring account with a 75th minute goal, finishing the game with three shots (two on goal) in 75 minutes of play.

Credited with the assist on Mehrang's goal was Daisuke Otsuka, who has been a regular contributor through the team's first seven games. He's appeared in all seven games, starting six of them, and is third on the team in minutes played with 513. His seven shots is tied with Luke Duball for second most on the team.

Scouting the opponent: Louisville is currently 6-2 and coming off a home win against Boston College. Three of the team's eight games have gone into overtime, and they hold a 1-2 record in those games – with the most recent overtime match ending as a 5-4 victory over Syracuse. Freshman Aboubacar Kamara leads the Cardinals with five goals, and Pedro Fonseca has added four goals with four assists.

Summit League Play: Saturday's game against Denver was the first of WIU's Summit League schedule. There are six total matches in conference play with two more at home and three on the road. At the conclusion of the season, the Summit League's men's soccer Championship will be played in Macomb, with games scheduled for Nov. 11 and 13. More information will be made available at a later date.

What's next: After playing Louisville the Leathernecks will have seven days to prepare for their next matchup, a home game against UW-Milwaukee next Tuesday (Oct. 5). Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
