Men’s Soccer Loses to Tough Northern Illinois

The team now sets its sights on conference play.

DEKALB, IL. – The Western Illinois Fighting Leathernecks men's soccer team was in action on Saturday, falling 6-0 to the Huskies of Northern Illinois on Saturday (Sept. 18).
 
16 Leathernecks featured throughout the game, with Cameron Territo, Devan DiGrado, Pall Ingvason, Ryan DeBois and Alex Flowers all playing the full 90. Northern Illinois scored three goals in each half, including a hat trick by Nick Markanich. In total, Western Illinois finished with five shots and drew 11 NIU fouls (one of which resulted in a yellow card), making two saves during the game.

Western's next game will be the first of their six matches against Summit League opponents. Kickoff against Denver is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 25) at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
