First Serve | For the first time in over two years, and for the 12th time in program history, the Western Illinois women's tennis team will face off with the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts. The match is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday (April 3).

Last Time Out | UND jumped ahead first and defeated Western in doubles in straight sets, taking a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Agatha Carbonell was retired after the first set putting the Fighting Hawks up 2-0. Mara Vidal (No. 6), Lucky Kancherla (No. 5), Maria Rybka (No. 4), and Aina Cortina-Pou (No. 3) all fell in straight sets.

Lorena Castellanos (No. 1) finished the evening trying to put Western on the board. In set number one, the freshman fell 6-3, but she fought to take it to set three in set number two. Castellanos eventually lost in set number two 7-5, completing the sweep for North Dakota.

Double Trouble | The duo of Aina Cortina-Pou and Lucky Kancherla were able to run away with a 6-2 win on March 9 in the No.2 spot against Bradley. The win marked the second doubles victory of the season for the pair, leading the Leathernecks in that category.

Plenty of Firsts | The Leathernecks 7-0 victory over St. Francis (Ill.) on Valentine's Day marked the first win of the season for Western and firsts for a few members of the team. The match was the first win for head coach Shawn Hyden at WIU, and it featured the first career wins for Lorena Castellanos, Aina Cortina-Pou, Agatha Carbonell, and Maria Rybka.

Scouting the Golden Eagles | It hasn't been an easy road for Oral Roberts this season. Six of the team's nine losses have come at the hands of current Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Top 50 ranked teams (#24 Arkansas, #33 Oklahoma, #41 Oklahoma State, #48 SMU, #49 Tulsa and #50 TCU). Summit League play has been fairer to the Golden Eagles. The team posted a 7-0 sweep over Omaha on March 27 after losing the League opener 5-2 at North Dakota. ORU heads into Saturday coming off a 4-0 loss to Louisiana Tech on Sunday (March 28).

Up Next | The Leathernecks head back home for a two-game stand against Omaha (April 11) and Eastern Illinois (April 13).
