SAINT LOUIS - The Western Illinois baseball team (3-9) dropped the rubber match 14-0 against Saint Louis (4-11) on Sunday (March 14).
In game three, it was the Billikens that got off to a quick start. An error in the first followed by a single and sac fly pushed them out to a 5-0 lead. SLU added to it with runs in the four of the next six frames.
Freshman Jacob Greenan was the first man of the pen and inherited the bases loaded in the third. He closed the door with a strikeout as he ended with three in 1.1 innings of work. Brian Raymond threw the next three innings and added five strikeouts to total his team-high 13.
Kory Olsen knocked a team-high two hits as he finished the series batting .500 (3-6). Playing back in his hometown, David Olejnik collected his first career hit with a leadoff single in the seventh.
WIU heads to SIUE on Tuesday (March 16) for the final non-league contest before hosting its Summit League and home opener versus North Dakota State on March 19-21. Friday's (March 19) will be a doubleheader with game one at noon.
