Leatherneck Tennis Adds Two

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois tennis head coach Shawn Hyden announced the signing of Paige Grice and Ashley Jacobson on Thursday (Feb. 11). 

"Paige and Ashley will fit well with each other and are going to push one another to get better every single day," said Hyden.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attends NorKam Senior Secondary… won the 30th Biondo Junior Grass Court Championship in 2018… three consecutive years on Honor Roll… named to the Principal's list in 2019 and 2020… nominated for Student of Excellence Award. 

Coach Hyden on Grice: "Paige is going to be perfect for WIU. She has great drive, enthusiasm, and athleticism."

Committed to Western: "I felt that it would give me a great balance between athletics and academics. Western has a strong physics program that I am interested in and also offers a competitive level of tennis. Everyone from Western I have talked to has been very friendly and welcoming."

Ashley Jacobson | Olathe West High School | Olathe, Kan.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters in tennis at Olathe West… ranked a three-star recruit by Tennis Recruiting Network… won the Sunflower League Championship… competed in 6A the State Tournament... Regional Runner Up.  

Coach Hyden on Jacobson: "I'm really excited to bring Ashley into the program. She's one of the top players out of Kansas and will be a perfect complement to the players we currently have in the program."

Committed to Western: "I chose Western because I liked coach Hyden and the girls on the team. Also, the atmosphere at WIU was so welcoming and made it feel like a family."
