Men's Soccer Heads to Kansas City

Matchup history: The Leathernecks and Roos have played 38 times in program history, with Western holding a 21-5-2 record. Their last matchup was on April 3, 2021, which finished as a 2-1 loss for the Leathernecks.

Players to watch: Voted a captain ahead of this season, Kyle Owen has played in 12 games this season and started each of his appearances. The junior from Oklahoma City, Okla., currently leads the team in minutes played (1,080) and is coming off a matchup with Bradley where he played all 110 minutes in the team's scoreless draw.
 
Luke Duball scored his first goal of the season against St. Thomas last Saturday, leveling the score seven minutes after the Tommies took a one-goal advantage. Duball has played in nine games this season and started eight, giving him 70 career appearances and 67 starts.

Scouting the opponent: Kansas City is currently 2-6-3 and coming off a 3-1 victory over Eastern Illinois. Vlad Jokic leads the Roos in goals with three, and the combination of Ben Andoh and Kotaro Hirokawa has produced four assists.

Summit League Play: WIU has played three matches in conference play thus far. There will be two more Summit League games after Saturday's match; one at home (Eastern Illinois) and on the road (Omaha). At the conclusion of this season, the Summit League's Men's Soccer Championship will be played in Macomb, with games scheduled for Nov. 11 and 13. More information will be made available at a later date.


What's next: The Leathernecks will return to Macomb for their final regular season home game next Saturday (Oct. 30). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
