Men's Basketball Announces 2021-22 Non-Conference Schedule

After two home exhibitions, the team heads on the road to face Nebraska for the season opener.

MACOMB, ILL. – With the 2021-22 season coming up, the Western Illinois University Fighting Leatherneck men's basketball program has finalized its non-conference schedule, WIU Athletics announced on Monday (Oct. 18).
 
After a duo of home exhibitions against the University of Illinois Springfield (Oct. 27) and Monmouth College (Nov. 1), the team opens regular season play with a matchup against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb., on Nov. 9. Both home exhibitions will be open to the public.
 
The Leathernecks then have two home games against Culver-Stockton (Nov. 12) and Iowa Wesleyan (Nov. 16), before playing three-straight on the road against DePaul (Nov. 20), Northern Kentucky (Nov. 22) and Eastern Michigan (Nov. 24).
 
After a trio of road games, the team heads back to Macomb for a three-game home stand. Miami University, Ball State and UT-Martin will visit Western Hall, scheduled for Nov. 27, Dec. 1 and Dec. 4, respectively. The team will face Central Michigan on the road Dec. 5, then play at Western Hall for a home game against Eastern Illinois on Dec. 18.
 
After playing two road games to start Summit League play (at Denver on Dec. 20 and Omaha on the 22nd), Western heads on the road for their final nonconference game, a Dec. 29 matchup with the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, Iowa.
