St. Thomas Comes to Macomb

Matchup history: Sunday's matchup will be the first time Western and St. Thomas have played since they made the jump to the Division-I level. Formerly a member of NCAA Division III and the MIAC, they joined the Summit League ahead of the 2021 fall season.

Players to watch: In his third season as a Leatherneck, Cameron Territo is currently second on the team in minutes played (877). The defender from McKeesport, Pa., has played the full 90 minutes in eight games this season - including the team's last match at Wisconsin.
 
Playing off the left side of the formation, Pall Ingvason has played in each of the team's 11 matches this year and has made six starts. In WIU's last game against Wisconsin, he started and played the full 90 minutes. A true freshman from Akureyri, Iceland, he ranks sixth on the roster in minutes played (715) and has recorded two shots.
 
Scouting the opponent: St. Thomas is currently 0-10-2 and coming off a 3-1 loss on the road at Denver. Five different Tommies have scored this season and Stu Sain is the team leader in points and assists with three.

Summit League Play: WIU has played two matches in conference play thus far. There are three more Summit League games after Saturday's match; one at home (Eastern Illinois) and two on the road (Kansas City and Omaha). At the conclusion of the season, the Summit League's Men's Soccer Championship will be played in Macomb, with games scheduled for Nov. 11 and 13. More information will be made available at a later date.

What's next: The Leathernecks will play their next match on the road on Monday (Oct. 18), taking on the Bradley Braves. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Ill.
