Women’s Basketball To Honor Seniors Thursday Night

The Leathernecks will honor four seniors prior to tip-off against Omaha.

Promotions | The final home game of the season features a plethora of promotions:

-Full-Court put for $500 cash (students only):
Students can enter a chance by signing up at the Union on Tuesday (Feb.18) or Thursday (Feb. 19) or Western Hall 30 minutes before tip on gameday and enter in a chance of being selected. Participants will be selected at the beginning of the game and must be present at the time of drawing to participate.
-Free Dippin' Dots ice cream to the first 200 fans 
-Cornhole toss, prizes include $25 Walmart gift card, wireless speaker and Nintendo switch 
-$50 bookstore giveaway for residence hall students 
-Key contest at the game for students, grand prize - free wings at the dining hall for the entire 2021-2022 academic year 
-Pitch the paw game for a chance to win a WIU swag bag
-Free Cupcakes to celebrate Col. Rock's birthday

Senior Day | The event marks Senior Day for Annabel Graettinger, Olivia Kaufmann, Avery Hamm, and Kyra Washington. Before the game, all four will be honored at mid-court.

Last Time Out | North Dakota started the game on an 8-0 run, but Western Illinois found its offensive stride and defeated the Fighting Hawks 91-74 on Saturday (Feb. 15) evening.
 
Sam Pryor checked in midway through the first quarter and drained back-to-back threes at 1:11 that turned into a 22-4 overall run with a 12 point burst that started the second quarter for a 48-33 lead at the half. 
 
A seven-point game (69-62) at 8:13 in the fourth, Danni Nichols got to the free-throw line and converted both to send the Purple and Gold into a 14-6 run. Western made 36 total trips to the line as Nichols finished a perfect 7-7 to total a 19 point performance. 

The Hall | Western Hall has been a successful place for the Leathernecks this season. With a 10-3 overall record and if the Leathernecks defeat Omaha, they will tie the program mark for third all-time in home victories in a season. The last time Western won 11 games at home was in 2017-18, and 2003-04 seasons, the program record was set in 2016-17 with 13 wins. 

Scouting the Mavericks | Omaha has lost its last 10 straight games and are 0-9 in road contests. The Mavericks are 1-11 in Summit League play with the lone win against Oral Roberts (60-54) on Jan. 2. 

Series History vs. Omaha | Western owns the all-time series 15-4 with taking the last ten straight meetings.
