Last Time Out | It was the Danni Nichols and Evan Zars show on Tuesday (Feb. 4) night as the duo combined for 50 points in an 83-74 defeat of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons.

A six-point game (78-72, WIU) at 1:24 in the fourth quarter, the Western Illinois women's basketball team sealed the last Summit League sweep of PFW before they join Horizon League in the 2020-21 season at the free-throw line.

On a career-high performance (25 points), Zars set the tone on both sides of the ball for the Leathernecks in the first quarter. A successful and-one at 4:56 began a 13-4 swing for a 20-16 lead. She swatted a total of three shots for her tenth consecutive game with a block as Western finished with seven total for the second time this season with the last being at Purdue (Nov. 17).

The Hall | Western Hall has been a successful place for the Leathernecks this season. With a 9-3 overall record and if the Leathernecks win out the remaining two matchups, they will tie the program mark for third all-time in home victories in a season with 11. The last time Western won 11 games at home was in the 2017-18 and 2003-04 seasons, the program record was set in 2016-17 with 13 wins.

Scouting the Coyotes | Ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press poll and 17 in the USA Today Coaches poll, South Dakota owns an average margin of victory of 35.9 points per game in Summit League play. The Coyotes have now been ranked in the AP Top 25 for seven weeks this season and are led by Ciara Duffy, a semifinalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year. She leads the team with 17.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.
